Dear Michael,

Thank you for your swift response. I shall resend my paperwork presently.

Meanwhile, you and your colleagues might want to consider removing internal communication threads before replying to an email originator. Including discriminatory remarks is both insensitive and unprofessional.

Wow, that was so rude!! I can’t believe they were stupid enough to leave those remarks in. Mate, you should make a proper complaint! What sort of bigots are they!? Contact the council direct to complain.

  2. sungirltan Says:

bs – i know!! i was thinking of requesting their superior’s email and sending a copy – is that how to do it do you think?

  3. Brennig Jones Says:

What you do is find out who the complaints officer for the academic institution is and send them a copy of the chain – and CC as an addressee to the disability officer.

  4. pinkjellybaby Says:

    Noooooooooooo

  5. sungirltan Says:

bren – its devon council not my uni.
i’ve phoned up to ask who to complain to – they said use the generic student finance email. I’ve sent a compliant but received no response from either as yet.

  6. Sal Says:

As our good friend A would say:

“Time for the letter written on cardboard”

  7. sungirltan Says:

sal – HELL YEH!!! if there was ever an instance to really do that- this is it!!

  8. hoverfrog Says:

Ouch, your remark is both cutting and dismissive. I’m sure that Peter Bosley and Michael Amis will both suffer pangs of guilt for years to come that will wake them from peaceful sleep in an agony of remorse. Add that to the embarrassment of having their colleagues know that they’re self pleasuring arse wipes who takes pleasure in mocking complete strangers and they may well choose the life of a hermit rather than return to work tomorrow.

I’d continue to rub it in. Contact the council complaints department again and copy your local counsellor in for good measure. Do it in writing on that pay-purr stuff that you read about on history web sites. Don’t forget the stamp.

I don’t think there’s any chance of them turning down your application now. If they do you should definitely appeal.

  9. daffy Says:

There is no need for that.
    How ignorant!
I think you should take it further.

  10. sungirltan Says:

HF and Daffy – I have but strangely still no response!!

  11. punctuation Says:

    Nice. What a plank.

  12. amillionpieces Says:

Defo complain properly. And also lets sign his e-mail address up to all kinds of weird crap.

  13. Suburban Mum Says:

That’s outrageous. Yeah, I’m with Pete – let’s send them pizzas at 2am and things.

  14. Lisa Says:

Oh no! I bet the guy who sent this has had a chance to regret it by now.

  15. Fabulous Says:

Oh my gosh. I am glad that you put a little bit back to him saying that it was not on. Has he repied to you and appologised?. NO!!! Well thats a surpise hey. I bet he is hanging his head in shame. ANd so should he.
    Yes complain some more.

  16. nikki Says:

this is amazing. and you are HILARIOUS. go you!

  17. Perpetual Says:

Wow, did you get a response yet?

  18. sungirltan Says:

    perps – nope!!

  19. blue soup Says:

Is it worth complaining that your complaint hasn’t been dealt with? You should go to your SU about this too… x

  20. gemmak Says:

OMG! That’s terrible!!! But on the upside you soooo got the last laugh girl! Your response was suitiably to the point, very polite, articualte nad hopefully had them squirming with embarassment! Did you get an apology?

  21. gemmak Says:

    Sh*t…pity I can’t type today! Lol….what was I saying about ‘articulate’?!

  22. Midnight Says:

If it’s the Council, you need to contact their Monitoring Officer to make a formal complaint othrwise it will just be lost in the system as an informal complaint.

They will definitely have rules about responding to complaints too, so fire another one in about that too! Give ’em hell girl!

  23. Midnight Says:

Oh and also contact their Equality and Diversity Officer! They will be very interested in this one!

  24. sungirltan Says:

midnight – hey thanx for the info i’ll give it a go x

  25. sungirltan Says:

hf – well as social workers employed in the publci sector we are legally obliged to tackle racismand discrimination (race relations ammendments act). so that we don’t either end up in daily fist fights or alienate service users too much we sue this ‘elegant challenging’ policy. it just means questioning peoples statements of prejudice and engaging them in the debate about whatever it is they are being rude about.
